In this day and age, our consumer choices have become the most important political statements we can make daily. In that spirit, I believe it is essential that we choose products embodying values of environmental respect and fair trade. Only then can we all work together to improve the way business is done and become responsible consumers.
Design with a social consciousness for baby The whole process of creating, developing and marketing the Urban Kimono je suis un bébé vert (I am a green baby) has been guided by ethical choices. These days, it is vital that we all act in ways that strengthen our commitment to responsible consumption. It is only through the actions and demands of both consumers and companies that ethical trade can flourish - and one day become the sole method of doing business.
As a graphic designer by profession who works for several non-profit organisations, I wanted to give this project a true social conscience. To this end, 2% of profits will be going toward two organizations, Oxfam-Québec and the Monique-Fitz-Back Foundation. That means everyone who makes a purchase will also be making a donation!
Anyone can become a responsible consumer – it really is a lot easier than you think.
I thank you for your interest in this independent art project, and hope you enjoy your visit to the online shop and educational Web site. Other products inspired by this project are currently in the works. Sign up for our mailing list to receive news about them as they become available!

"As consumers, we tend to see the choices we make as strictly isolated actions; however, each time we purchase something, we are in fact connected with dozens of others across the globe, people who are farming, weeding, harvesting, extracting, cleaning, packing, transporting, stitching, weaving, dyeing, sewing, manufacturing, trading, lending, selling, and so on. Our choices have an effect on their working conditions and the environment as a whole. This is why buying is voting. By choosing other ways in which to consume, we can vote for a better future for our children and those throughout the world, who are in some respects also our own."
Laure Waridel Eco-sociologist and author of Acheter c'est voter.
